Notes on the next two weeks –

 

Monday, Dec 7th—

Practice canceled due to conflicts

 

Tuesday, Dec 8th—

Practice at Mark Twain Elementary School 6- 8 pm

 

Directions to Mark Twain-

Mark Twain is on Salem Avenue in Rolla, which runs at a diagonal northwest to southeast... the easiest way to find it, if you've never been there before, is off of Highway 72.

 

Salem Avenue is at the stoplight before you reach Highway O going south east on 72. You will see a Break Time gas station and Phelphs County Bank at that intersection.

Turn at that light to head northwest on Salem Avenue (a left turn if you're coming from the direction of Hwy 63; a right turn if you're coming from Hwy O)

Take Salem Avenue short ways until you see Mark Twain Elementary School on your right.

Turn onto the street right after the school (where the school sign is). Go a short ways until you see a street that turns right and leads behind the school. Follow that road to the new part of the school – big glass doors lead to the gym.

 

Thursday, Dec 10^th –

Scrimmage at Wyman Elementary School vs. 7^th grade SIR team  6:30-7:30 pm

 

Very informal – I don't know if there will be referees or a scoreboard. I'll let you know more information as I get it. Coach Adams will let you know Tuesday which players should plan to come.

 

Directions to Wyman Elementary

Get to Highway 63

Drive in the direction of Kmart (on the south end of town, south of Walmart)

At the intersection of Lanning Lane and Hwy 63, you will see Kmart and Town and Country Bank. Turn EAST (toward Kmart)

Drive up the hill on Lanning Lane. Wyman Elementary School is on your left.

The gym is at the far east end of the complex

 

Friday, Dec 11^th

 

A homeschool group from Jonesboro, Arkansas is coming to Rolla to play our teams.

 

Game times:

6:00 pm -- 14U boys

7:15 pm – girls game – all girls dress

8:30 pm – 18U boys

 

Volunteer schedule:

Admissions: Judy Cureton  5:45 – 6:45 (when Stacy arrives)

                     Stacy Quittschrieber  6:45 – 7:45

Scoreboard: Lee Robertson

Scorebook: ? 

Concessions: ? Kathy Collins may be coordinating something in this area.

 

Saturday, Dec 12^th

 

14 U Boys tournament – look for a separate email with the entire day's schedule. We still need volunteers in many areas that day, so look at the schedule and let me know what times you are available to help. Girls, we would really appreciate any help you can give, since we'll be asking the boys to help with your tournament in January!

 

No girls game for the Royals that day. However, the St. Louis Patriettes will be bringing their Varsity A team to play Jonesboro's girls at 2 pm – you may want to come watch that game if you want to see some really good girls basketball! The Patriettes have an excellent program, and their teams are always good. They are a nice group of people as well, so we always enjoy their visits.

 

Cancellations:

I have been asked at what point we make decisions about canceling games due to weather. Here are some basic principles:

 

#1 – we don't cancel games based on forecasts, because we've learned that the weather in Missouri likes to do its own thing J

 

#2 – we consult with teams driving to play us first. Even if the weather is okay here, their weather may not be, and if it is a long distance, they may not want to make the drive if the weather is uncertain.

 

#3 – we must defer to the school district, since we are using their facilities.  If school is cancelled in Rolla, their policy is that their facilities are not used for any events. I'm not sure yet how that applies to Saturdays.

 

#4 – we don't usually cancel until the day of an event, sometimes even midday. Keep your eyes open for emails if the weather is iffy (and remember the weather may be good here, but our opponents may not want to make the drive, or we may not drive to a location where the weather is bad).

 

Monday, Dec 14 – Practice 6-8 pm at Junior High

 

Tuesday, Dec 15 – Practice 6-8 pm at Junior High

 

Friday, Dec  18 – Practice 6-8 pm at Redeemer

 

Let your coach know if you have conflicts for any of these dates… and remember that schedules may change due to weather or excessive conflicts, so keep alert!

Saturday game -- request from Coach Adams

Coach Adams asks that you wear conservative clothes to the game, something that you would wear to church. He had intended to tell  you at Thursday practice, but forgot. Also, Allison Bruno, the Farthings, The Laires,The Hamiltons, and the Adams will all be traveling from our various homes, and thus only the rest of the team will be meeting at Kroger, which will be, the Cates, who are taking Jenny, and then, Laura, Kelsey, and Desi Thank you, Brett Adams.. via Mrs. Hall

Unfortunately, Key Sport had some equipment fail today and it backed up all their printing projects. Since our tshirts are not essential, they didn't get done.

I will be able to fill a few of the orders at the game tonight, with shirts I have in stock, but the rest of you will need to wait until next week sometime. Sorry about that!

Saturday game

Girls Game Saturday --

11 am in Springfield, at Central Bible College.

I suggest you meet at Kroger and leave at 8:30 am. That should give you time to get to the college by 10:30 am

There are two attachments - one is a google map showing you the general location of CBC. The other is a written description of how you actually get to the gym... also copied below. For those of you who have been with RHAA, this is where we played the SWMO Eagles in basketball last year, as well as where we went for the Eagles volleyball tournament this past fall.

Central Bible College, Springfield – SWMO Eagles

As you head west on I-44, take Exit 77 (Hwy. 13 or Kansas Expwy.).  Turn right onto 13/Kansas and immediately turn right again onto Norton Road.  You'll pass the Zoo and the Fairgrounds on your left and come to a stoplight at Grant Ave.  Turn left and go half a block; take the first right into the CBC parking lot.  As soon as you turn in to the lot, make a sharp left and go north to the end of the lot.  Make a sharp right turn and head east through the lot for half a block or so. You should be able to see a building in front of you and down the hill, with a lot of glass on the front.  You'll probably see the trophy cases inside and people milling around the snack area. Follow a winding road to the left and then right into the lot by the gym. Use the entrance on the west side of the building that has stairs leading up to it.  The gate is right inside.  It's easier than it sounds!

another addition!

We have another change/addition to the schedule...we are going to scrimmage the girls 7th grade SIR team on Thursday, Dec. 10th from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at Wyman Elementary. I'm not sure how formal this will be, but we'll be working out the details and will let you know.

practice change for next week

Due to a conflict for the coach and his family, we have changed next week's practice date.

NO practice on Monday, Dec 7th.
Practice at Mark Twain Elementary from 6 - 8 on Tuesday, Dec. 8th.

I am waiting for confirmation from the SWMO Eagles as to the location and time of the game Saturday. At this point, it is scheduled for 11 am at Central Bible College. I will have more information by practice Thursday.
